Fort Unchagaon stands in village Unchagoan. Just about an hours drive from Garhmukteshwar in U.P., it is a mere 16 Km from the country’s capital, New Delhi. The Fort is located very close to the river Ganges and it, interestingly, also near the particularly famous for the Gangetic Dolphins.

Always the seat of royalty, the present Raja Surendra Pal Singh inherited the Fort in 1927 at the tender age of ten. Over the years vast changes were made to the fort, which resulted in imposing building in an Indo- colonial style. Later, modern amenities were added making it a much loved weekend sortie for close friends and relatives. Now, the fort has been converted to a resort for all to enjoy this one of a kind experience.

Fort Unchangoan enjoys a history that is proud and colourful. Its Jat rulers can trace back their family tree to one of the several prestigious Jat zamindaris which came into prominence during the decline of the Mughal Empire. For Years, the family held a sear of honour in Western UP, formally known as United Provinces during the British Raj, Along with the Sikhs, Marathas, Rohillas, French Adventurers and the East India Company, the Jats vied to fill the vacuum left by the decline of the Mughals.
